Aggregation
The methodology of the aggregation is based on a spirit of research, seminars, and the sharing of work.
Curriculum leading to the title of Aggregated Teacher for Higher Secondary Education (AESS) in the field of Plastic, Visual, and Spatial Arts.
The aggregation is intended for master's students (or former bachelor's degree holders) or those who have obtained a long or equivalent master's degree in higher artistic education. Students holding a foreign diploma, title, or certificate of studies can also register by submitting an equivalency request to the Fédération Wallonie Bruxelles (FWB) (http://www.equivalences.cfwb.be/). They will also need to pass a French language proficiency exam organized during the year.
Students enrolled at the end of a 120-credit master's program at an institution within the French Community can simultaneously register for studies leading to the title of Aggregated Teacher for Higher Secondary Education (AESS). However, these students will not be proclaimed as having completed the program until they have obtained the academic master's degree.
The training is structured around three main areas:
- Psychopedagogical courses: Sociological and cultural knowledge, assessment of learning, critical study of major pedagogical trends and educational research, sociological and cultural knowledge, psychological, socio-affective, and relational knowledge...
- Didactics of the arts, which has two components:
- Didactics of the arts – practice: This part focuses on analyzing different teaching methods. Students are gradually led to design and implement course proposals (exercises, workshops, projects, etc.) and reflect on their pedagogical, didactic, and artistic implications.
- Didactics of the arts – seminar: A research seminar (text readings and presentations) dedicated to deepening questions related to art education, pedagogy, and artistic practices.
- Internships: These consist of a practical component (observation and teaching internship) and an analytical component in the form of seminars.
- The thesis: A written work related to pedagogical research in the field of visual, plastic, and spatial arts.
The methodology for the aggregation is based on a research spirit, seminars, and collective work. It requires active participation from students, regular attendance, and a desire to share knowledge.
