Dans le cadre de sa recherche doctorale en art et science de l'art (ArBA/ULB), Anna Raimondo initie une série de rencontres consacrées aux pratiques d'écoute et féministes.
As part of her doctoral research, Anna Raimondo is initiating a series of encounters dedicated to listening practices and feminisms.
For this first encounter, she invites sound artist, writer and researcher Cathy Lane to enter into dialogue with her, drawing on their respective artistic practices and research.
This conversation brings some of the central questions of Anna Raimondo’s doctoral thesis, Towards Gendered Listening: Voices, Silences and Hesitations, into a shared space of discussion and listening, in which the audience will also be invited to participate. Through a series of collective listening sessions, Cathy Lane and Anna Raimondo will share experiences of vulnerability and doubt, but also of joy and irreverence, that emerge through the listening processes at work in the selected pieces.
Cathy Lane is an artist, composer and writer. She works primarily in sound, combining oral history, archival recordings, spoken word and environmental recordings to investigate histories, environments, our collective and individual memories and the forces that shape them. She is inspired by places or themes which are rooted in everyday experience and particularly interested in ‘hidden histories’ and historical amnesia and how this can be investigated from a feminist perspective through the medium of composed sound. Cathy Lane is Emerita Professor of Sound Arts at University of the Arts London.
