Art Research Fund| FRArt

The Art Research Fund, or FRArt, is a key player in the field of artistic research in the Federation Wallonia-Brussels. Established in 2018, its purpose is to fund artistic research projects carried out by artist-researchers, either individually or collectively, excluding doctoral work and artistic production funding.

Projects are submitted for approval by one or more Higher Art Schools (ESA) that will sponsor the projects. Therefore, the entry point for FRArt submissions is the EsAs. Each Higher Art School (ESA) can sponsor a maximum of 5 artistic research projects.

The international artistic committee of FRArt selects from the projects supported by the EsAs those that will be funded. Priority will be given to up to 4 projects submitted by authors who have graduated within the last 5 years, or by authors who demonstrate an artistic practice and have never received significant funding. Each supported artistic research project has a duration of 9 to 24 months, providing flexibility for in-depth projects.

The ArBA EsA encourages artist-researchers to stay alert to our regular calls for projects. These calls are an opportunity to submit proposals for artistic research to benefit from FRArt funding.
