MULTI focuses on the evolution of publishing and multiple reproduction practices in art history, the multidisciplinary nature of contemporary artistic practices, and technological democratization. The goal for the student-artist is to expand their scope of action by placing reproducibility and dissemination at the core of their artistic practice.
The program engages with and questions all aspects of editorial practices: the practice of multiples, the design and development of an edition, the interrogation of production and display systems, relationships with audiences, as well as the dissemination and promotion of works.
This Master’s is intended for motivated and autonomous individuals. It emphasizes horizontal learning, collaborative practices, collective research, and pedagogical innovation.
It offers a program of meetings, visits, workshops, and seminars that support studio practice from the initial idea to the realization of an edition. Throughout the curriculum, students are encouraged to meet and exchange with actors from the contemporary art scene and cultural professionals: artists, theorists, curators, artisans, designers, publishers, producers, sellers, or collectors involved in editorial practices.
Launched in September 2015, the Master’s program in Editorial Practices aims to train future professionals in varied careers, engaged in the artistic scene and society, sensitive to the meaning and plasticity of artworks, curious, bold, critical, and attentive both to plastic and conceptual experimentation and to the theoretical and reflective aspects of editorial practices.
MULTI, the specialized Master’s in Editorial Practices, is a two-year program worth 120 ECTS credits.
The workshop operates autonomously while being linked to certain options of the ArBA-EsA Master 1, with the possibility of continuing this dual practice in Master 2 depending on the artistic direction of the work.
In the workshop, we discuss the development of individual and collective projects during weekly meetings. Practice and theory are intertwined and encourage exchange among the students.
The research module specific to MULTI is based on regular meetings with external contributors. These sessions also offer repeated opportunities for students to present their work to enthusiastic professionals and to build rich, promising connections.
Generally, MULTI benefits from a flexible structure that allows it to integrate specific research projects according to the various types of projects arising from the student group and their prior curricula, as well as to seize emerging opportunities.
Practical and theoretical courses such as Writing, Book Art, or Current Issues in Publishing support reflection and experimentation in the workshop.
MULTI is structured around the following axes:
Thought / Practice: This is the space for experimentation and research where the editorial project and its reflection are formed. Practice and theory are intertwined and foster exchange among students, teachers, and contributors.
Gestures: Some meetings focus on the more technical aspects of editorial practice. These will be addressed according to the different types of projects coming from the student group and their previous backgrounds.
Views: These observation moments provide opportunities for shared attention to artworks, places, circulation, dissemination, etc. This part of the program aims to benefit from the richness of local initiatives and enable students to take part.
Perspectives: Alongside the critical thinking and plastic experimentation of the project, students learn to plan its conception, collaboration, budget, production, communication, and dissemination.
MULTI also develops in collaboration with CARE, the Master in Exhibition Practices, through an annual seminar followed by a joint research module.

Entry into the second cycle (Master’s)
Entry into the second cycle is based on an artistic portfolio. For selected candidates, an interview is organized and coordinated by the program director.
