Anna Belousova is an interdisciplinary artist born in the Soviet Union and based between Brussels and Antwerp. She studied graphic art and book illustration at the Repin Academy of Fine Arts in St Petersburg. Before moving to Belgium, she developed her practice in Russia through installations, participatory projects and collaborations with dance artists. Her practice moves between performance, drawing, photography and moving image. She uses the body as a way to explore relationships with others. Her recent works, Tools and Blooming, ask what vegetal life can bring to our understanding of agency, vulnerability and consent. Through movement scores and collective experiments, she invites performers and audiences to imagine ways of sensing and relating that extend beyond the autonomous human subject. Her research draws on her experience of migration and neurodivergence, and on an interest in the knowledge held in living bodies.
