[EN] While You Are Going About Your Business is a sound installation that is a record of a mundane scenery, that one encounters while waiting for something that can feel meaningless, as a memory of a place.
The work focuses on the writings and drawings Observations Around the House, daily blog entries by Inpe. Minok An worked on his writings and paintings with her independent label Toujoursième Records, launched in 2018.
The members of Toujoursième Records were inspired by Inpe’s concept of a space becoming a place when it contains memory and meaning, and focus on ‘memories contained in space’. Intrigued by the habit of remembering a space by a sound that they heard when they stopped for another member’s dog ‘going about its business’, the album While You Are Going About Your Business was created based on the motif of their way of remembering the place.
The album tries to convey the audio memories contained in each place through audio works about mundane sounds encountered in spaces where one waits for something and passes it by.
Minok An visually embodies the places containing audio memories by producing installation works using floor photos taken at the recording site of While You Are Going About Your Business.

[NL] While You Are Going About Your Business is een geluidsinstallatie die een alledaags landschap vastlegt. Een landschap dat men tegenkomt terwijl men wacht op iets dat betekenisloos kan aanvoelen, als een herinnering aan een plek.
Het werk concentreert zich op de geschriften en tekeningen Observations Around the House, naar de dagelijkse blogberichten van Inpe. Minok An werkte aan zijn geschriften en schilderijen met haar onafhankelijke label Toujoursième Records, gelanceerd in 2018.
De leden van Toujoursième Records werden geïnspireerd door Inpe’s concept van een ruimte die een plaats wordt wanneer ze geheugen en betekenis bevat, en richtten zich op ‘herinneringen vervat in ruimte’.
